BREAKING NEWS: Actors Can’t Swim

I’m back with more dirt…

Those actors we’ve been talking about? I’ve realized something new and exciting. And honestly quite embarrassing.

Most of these so-called actors have no idea how to swim which is hysterical because it’s such a basic skill to have. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t born with the skill of swimming but it wasn’t hard to pick up on.

So why is any of this important?

Well, I figured I’d just give some helpful tips just in case maybe you don’t know how to swim either.

Swimming Tips

  1. If you plan on swimming, I HIGHLY recommend using Goggles, these will make your life so much easier when practicing and just spending time in a pool.
  2. Practice your sighting. Without proper sighting, you will find it extremely difficult to improve your swimming, especially at a competitive level. It’s best to look up while swimming with one swift, smooth motion. Practice this..
  3. When you enter the water, hands first. It’s best to pull straight back with your shoulders. Keeping hands and palms facing down, this will improve your speed and if done correctly. Your hands will never cross the center of your swimming path.
  4. Buy Fins if you want them. These will undoubtedly make your time swimming much much easier. Using fins is also beneficial for increasing ankle flexibility too, which everyone could benefit from.
  5. Don’t forget about a swimming snorkel! This cool little invention will allow you to breathe while swimming under the surface of the water! We all need that precious air.
  6. Bring an extra pair of goggles, you never want to find yourself in a situation where you aren’t prepared. If you lose your goggles or they break for whatever reason, you’ll be happy having a backup pair ready to go.
  7. Silicon Ear Plugs. These will help keep water out of your ear canals and possibly prevent an ear infection! It’s best to stay well protected when it comes to anything in the water. The swimming pool you’re swimming in might not always be the cleanest. If you’re not in a pool that receives proper pool maintenance services, you could be in trouble.
  8. Have a small towel with you. While this one seems obvious, you’d be surprised at how many people forget to bring a towel! Don’t fall victim to this.
  9. Train and talk with experienced swimmers. The best thing you can do if you’re interested in improving your swimming is to find a professional or mentor, someone that can show you the ropes and strokes čÖé
  10. PREPARE – All of these tips boil down to preparation. If you are not prepared or practicing often, you will find this much more difficult like those silly actors. Don’t be like them…
